Spokane NAACP chapter to host Candidate Forum and Town Hall

The Spokane NAACP says the forum on Tuesday, October 15 is not meant to be a debate, rather a platform for community engagement.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane NAACP Branch will host its second annual Candidate Forum and Town Hall on Tuesday, October 15.

The event will feature local candidates and is designed for voter education and engagement. According to the Spokane NAACP, the forum is not a debate, but a platform designed for community members to engage with the candidates and ask them preliminary questions about their policies and outlook if elected.

The candidate forum will include Al French and Molly Marshall, who are running for Spokane County Commissioner. The Town Hall will feature Carmela Conroy, a candidate for the U.S. House to represent Washington's 5th Congressional District, and Natasha Hill, a candidate for Washington House of Representatives District 3-Position 1.

KREM2 anchor Channing Curtis will moderate the forum.

The NAACP reached out to the opponents of both Conroy and Hill, but those candidates either had scheduling conflicts or declined to participate.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 starting at 6 p.m. at Spokane's Central Library, and is free to attend.
