Voters in Spokane County and Eastern Washington decided on multiple ballot measures on Tuesday night as the first ballot counts in the 2019 Primary Election were announced.
In addition, voters started to narrow down races for political office to the top two candidates, who will go on to the November General Election.
The first ballot count was released at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Visit the KREM Elections page for live results in Spokane County and counties across eastern Washington.
Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton said on Wednesday that she estimates about 30,000 ballots still need to be counted.
Spokane Mayoral Race
KREM projects that Nadine Woodward and Ben Stuckart will move on to the General election. Woodward leads after the first ballot count with 17,868
votes, or 40.47 percent of all counted votes. Stuckart received 16,733 votes, or 37.9 percent of total votes counted so far.

Spokane City Council President
The Primary for Spokane City Council President is still too close to call, with the top three candidates all within about 2,500 votes of each other.
Breean Beggs leads the City Council President Primary after the first count with 15,168 votes, which represents 35.87 percent of votes counted. Cindy Wendle sits in second place with 12,893 votes, or 30.49 percent of votes cast. In third place is Mike Fagan, who has received 11,185 votes, or 26.45 percent of total votes counted so far.
Spokane County Library District Levy
The ballot measure for the Spokane County Library District's Maintenance and Operations Levy is also too close to call, with the vote split 54.86 percent "Yes" and 45.14 percent "No" after the first ballot count.

Spokane County Fire District 3 Levy
The Spokane County Fire District 3 Fire Protection and EMS Tax Levy currently sits at 68.16 percent of counted votes for approval, with 31.84 percent of counted votes rejecting the measure.
Spokane County Fire District 5 Levy
The Spokane County Fire District 5 Improvement Levy represents possibly the tightest race after the first ballot count, with the measure currently not passing by just 12 votes at this time.
Spokane County has counted 102,988 ballots so far, according to the county elections website. The next count is scheduled to be released on Friday at 6 p.m.
