CHICAGO (AP) - A college fraternity that has been under scrutiny since members of its University of Oklahoma chapter were caught on video engaging in a racist chant said it will require all of its members, nationwide, to go through diversity training.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity executive director Blaine Ayers said Wednesday in Chicago that he was disgusted by the video that surfaced last week. He apologized for the pain it caused and outlined steps meant to ensure it never happens again.
He said SAE will establish a confidential hotline to gather reports of inappropriate behavior, appoint a national advisory committee on diversity and inclusion and hire someone to oversee those efforts.
SAE disbanded the OU chapter and the school expelled two students who took part in the chanting.
