WASHINGTON — Derek Hough has revealed that his wife, Hayley Erbert, is recovering after being rushed to the hospital and undergoing emergency brain surgery.

The "Dancing with the Stars" judge shared on Instagram that Erbert became disoriented at the end of the couple's "Symphony of Dance" tour performance Wednesday night at the MGM National Harbor near Washington, D.C.

"She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition," Hough shared.

A craniectomy is a type of surgery to remove a portion of a person's skull to help relieve extra pressure on the brain, according to Cedars-Sinai

"I want to thank the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her. I ask for your prayers and positivity during this time," Hough added.

The couple got engaged last June and were married in late August

Their dance tour was scheduled to run through the end of the year with stops remaining in several cities across Virginia, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho and California.

Some of the scheduled tour dates include Tampa on Dec. 11, Sugar Land on Dec. 14, San Antonio on Dec. 17, San Diego on Dec. 20 and Idaho Falls on Dec. 23.

Thursday's scheduled performance in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been postponed. It's not yet known whether any of the remaining tour dates will be postponed or if those will go on as planned.

In 2020, Hough joined "Dancing with the Stars" as part of the judging panel, after previously competing on the show as a pro-dancer and winning the competition six times. The show's 32nd season wrapped up on Tuesday night, with Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy crowned champions. They took home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, which was named in honor of the late "Dancing with the Stars" judge who passed away earlier this year
