Donald Trump wants “little Marco” to stay in the Senate.

Late Thursday, the presumptive Republican nominee tweeted “Run Marco!” encouraging his former competitor to attempt to keep his Senate seat in 2016.

Trump is just one of a chorus of voices trying to get the Florida Republican to run, as concerns rise over his Senate seat going to a Democrat.

Rubio and Trump have had an interesting relationship. Shortly before Rubio dropped out of the race, the two went at it and nothing was off limits — including hand size.

Rubio has been hesitant to fully embrace Trump. But in a pre-released transcript from his interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper set to air Sunday, Rubio said he’d be willing to speak on Trump’s behalf at the convention this summer — his strongest show of support yet for the presumptive nominee. Rubio also said he’d release his delegates to vote for Trump at the convention.

"I want to be helpful. I don't want to be harmful, because I don't want Hillary Clinton to be president," Rubio said.

"Look, my policy differences with Donald Trump — I spent 11 months talking about them. So I think they're well understood," Rubio said. "That said ...  I don't want Hillary Clinton to be president. If there's something I can do to help that from happening, and it's helpful to the cause, I'd most certainly be honored to be considered for that."

Rubio has a little time to change his mind about his Senate plans — the deadline is June 24.

On Friday morning, Rubio took to Twitter to defend his decision to back Trump.
