Ted Cruz hit the late night talk show circuit again to discuss his plan to prevail over Donald Trump at a "contested convention" this summer.
Cruz acknowledged to Tonight show host Jimmy Fallon that Trump will do well in Tuesday's primary in his home state of New York — maybe even "north of 50%" — but he added that the businessman will not have the necessary majority of delegates when the convention opens July 18 in Cleveland.
"I think Donald's highest total will be on the first ballot," Cruz said during the Thursday interview.
Cruz, who has also sat down with Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert this election season, indicated that the keys for him are the delegates who currently back other candidates, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
"I think they naturally come to us," Cruz said. "I think we'll win a majority at the convention and then we'll go on and beat Hillary in November."
