TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A Washington woman led police on a multi-state high-speed chase Wednesday before an Idaho deputy was forced to disable the vehicle via the PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver, according to the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office.
Selene S. Moore, 25, of Spokane, was arrested after refusing to obey traffic laws and then leading Nevada and Idaho law enforcement officers on a high-speed pursuit from Nevada into Idaho.
At 1:08 p.m. Wednesday, Nevada Highway Patrol informed the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office (TFCSO) that he had ceased his high-speed pursuit of a white BMW sedan with Arizona plates, and that the suspect was headed for the Nevada/Idaho state border.
The Nevada officer stated that Moore's speed exceeded 140 mph while traveling along U.S. Route 93 (Hwy 93) north of Wells, Nevada.
Approximately 30 minutes later, TFCSO was contacted again by Nevada patrol, informing Idaho police that the BMW was leaving Nevada's jurisdiction and entering the state of Idaho.
Twin Falls deputies located the vehicle on Hwy 93 at Mile Marker 24, near the Twin Falls Salmon Creek Bridge, and attempted to disable it by laying out roadway tire spikes. The attempt was unsuccessful, and Moore continued driving recklessly at speeds of over 110 mph, according to police. At Mile Marker 44, a TFCSO deputy performed the PIT maneuver and successfully brought the vehicle to a stop.
Police said in a news release the female driver was the sole occupant of the car. At 2:12 p.m., Moore was arrested and transported to the hospital to be cleared of potential injuries before being booked into the local jail.
