Evacuations: According to the Spokane County Emergency Management evacuations map, all evacuations for the Grove Fire in Geiger Heights have been lifted.
Initially, when the fire broke out on June 11, evacuations were Level 3. They were downgraded later Tuesday night to Level 2 before being lowered again on Wednesday morning and eventually lifted Thursday afternoon.
The Washington Department of Natural Resources said there are 100 structures within a quarter mile of the fire.
DNR said the fire has burned just under 75 acres and it has been 100% lined, and 25 percent contained.
The Red Cross opened a Fire Evacuation Meeting Point at 6 p.m. at the El Katif Shriners Center on Tuesday, but the shelter closed around 10 p.m. on Tuesday after the evacuation level was dropped from three to two. When open, there was food, cots and other urgent needs for people affected by the fire. People who were evacuated were asked to bring prescriptions, emergency medication, extra clothes, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items to the evacuation meeting point.
The Washington Department of Natural Resources said there are 100 structures within a quarter mile of the fire.
The fire was reported around 2:00 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Grove Rd. People at Spokane International Airport, to the north, reported seeing the large plume of smoke.
