OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Governor Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation in response to several wildfires burning across the state.
Inslee said Washington has seen "abnormally dry weather conditions with periods of exceptionally high temperatures," which Inslee said creates a high risk for fire conditions in the area.
Inslee's office said Friday evening that the large number of fires has also created a large-scale supply shortage for firefighting activities in Washington State, which would require fuel to be resupplied across the state.
Inslee is also suspending statutory limits on vehicle driver hours of service to help deliver fuel supplies that are necessary to help fight fires across Washington State until August 16.
Inslee also said members of active state service, which include the National and State Guard, will be called in to help address what is going on.
