Two Coeur d'Alene Firefighters deployed out of state to help fight wildfires

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Over the weekend, the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department was requested to send wildland resources to two separate fires. 

Firefighter Travis Georgius is being deployed to the Sharrott Creek Fire near Hamilton, Montana. He will be part of the Incident Management Team, helping coordinate medical resources for the fire. 

The Sharrot Creek Fire is burning over 1,100 acres and is 0% contained. The fire was ruled as started by lighting. 

Firefighter Keith Benz is being deployed to the Whiskey Fire near Hood River, Oregon. He will provide medical assistance along the fire lines. 

The Whiskey Fire is burning over 2,000 acres and is 24% contained. It is under investigation as human caused. 

Both deployments are expected to last at least two weeks.
