KELLER, Wash. — Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuations remain in place for both the Swawilla and Bridge Creek Fires burning near Keller in northeast Washington state.
Evacuations
The latest evacuation levels for both the Swawilla and Bridge Creek Fire can be found on the maps below.
The town of Keller, the Highway 21 corridor, Mount Tolman, Buffalo Lake and McGinnis Lake areas have all been reduced to Level 2 (Get Set) Evacuations.
- Green = Level 1 (Be Ready)
- Yellow = Level 2 (Get Set)
- Red = Level 3 (Go!)
Road Closures: Swawilla Fire
- All roads within Level 3 evacuation areas are closed
Fire officials ask those traveling in the area to use extreme caution as firefighting crews remain in the area and low visibility can create dangerous driving conditions.
Other openings
- The Keller Ferry is reopened and fully operational
On Monday, fire crews continued structure protection in and around Keller. There will be controlled burns around Keller to clear brush that could be fuel for the active fires. Crews continue to take advantage of the cooler weather to make progress on containing the fires before hot weather returns later this week.
The Swawilla Fire sits at 53,403 acres in size while the Bridge Creek Fire is at 3,998 acres. The Swawilla Fire is 90% contained and the Bridge Creek Fire is 100% contained.
The evacuation center at Republic Fairgrounds is now closed for people impacted by the fire but is still accepting animals that must be relocated.
