Middle Mountain Fire sparked by lightning.

INCHELIUM, Wash. — According a press release from the Northeast Interagency Incident Management Team, a small, remote fire was sparked by lightning about 13 miles south of Inchelium.

At this time there are no evacuations or road closures. The Northeast Agency reports that only timber and rangeland is at risk.

On July 6 the fire was reported to be approximately 12-16 acres and as of the morning of Sunday, July 7 fire crews are still working to contain the fire.

On July 6, aerial crews aided ground crews in strengthening defense and creating a new fire line.

The Northeast Interagency reports that fire danger rating is high as rising temperatures and dry weather increase the chances of fire initiation and spread.

Northeast Washington Incident Management Teams are assuming command of the fire as of July 7 and are working with the Colville Agency of Confederated Tribes in efforts to contain the fire.
