Applications open for disaster relief for Gwen Fire victims

Applications for up to $2,250 of housing relief are due by Wednesday, Oct. 2.
The Gwen Fire burned close to 30,000 acres, destroying 38 homes and 122 outbuildings.

LAPWAI, Idaho — Lewis-Clark Association of Realtors (LCAR) is partnering with the Realtors Relief Foundation (RRF) to offer financial assistance to those affected by the Gwen Fire near Lapwai, Idaho.

LCAR is offering up to $2,250 per household in specifically housing relief. They say the funds can go towards:

  • monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged,
  • rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence,
  • or hotel reimbursement due to displacement from the primary residence because of the Gwen Fire.

The application is due Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024. 

The final update given for the Gwen fire on Aug. 3 reports that the fire had burned 28,820 acres and was 90% contained. Officials ruled that the fire was started by lighting.
