Level 3 (Go Now) Evacuations issued for wildfire burning outside of Moscow

The Latah County Sheriff's Office has issued Level 3 Evacuations for the multiple homes in the area.

MOSCOW, Idaho — Level 3 (Go Now) Evacuations have been issued for a wildfire burning outside Moscow, Idaho.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office has issued Level 3 Evacuations for the following homes.

  • Wallen Road from Teare Road to Robinson Park Road 
  • Teare Road at Wallen Road to Highway 8 
  • Kasper Road at Teare Road to Genesee Troy Road/Larson Road 
  • Pine Crest Road from Robinson Park to Highway 8
  • Riehle Road 

The sheriff's office is asking people to avoid the area to allow for fire crews to fight the fire and help people evacuate their homes.

Wallen Road from Teare Road to Robinson Park Road is also closed. The sheriff's office is asking drivers to find alternative routes of travel.

The Latah County Sheriff told KREM 2 News they are evacuating a few houses, and no structures have been lost as of yet. Deputies are evacuating houses. Several homes have been evacuated just in the danger zone of the fire, according to the sheriff.

The sheriff's office said everyone in the evacuation zone is out. The fire started around 3-3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon and is moving south. 

It is known at this time as to how the fire started or the size of the fire. No structures have been lost as of yet. There also isn't any sort of evacuation shelter open at this time.

"The deputies are set up doing roadblocks at this time, keeping a residence from coming in and out of the area so the firefighters can be with their equipment and do the work that they need to do to get the fire out so," Tim Besst, chief deputy with the Latah County Sheriff's Office, said.
