Evacuations lifted near Spokane airport after wildfire

A wildfire burning near the Spokane International Airport caused some evacuations on Saturday.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Evacuations have been lifted from the areas west of the Spokane International Airport after the Thorpe Road Fire caused several levels of evacuations.

Spokane County Emergency Management (SCEM) says evacuations have been lifted and residents in the areas between Thorpe Road, Medical Lake Highway, Lawson Street and Craig Road can return home.

SCEM says Spokane County Fire District 3 (SCFD3) had crews working to contain the fire and have successfully knocked down the fire.

SCFD3 says that no homes have been damaged and no injuries have been reported.

SCFD3 says the fire burned at least 20 acres.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says the Spokane County Evacuation Zone Lookup map system is having technical issues and SCEM is working to address the issue.
