"Goosmus Fire" in Danville, Washington, prompts Level 3 (Go Now!) Evacuations

According to the Ferry County Sheriff's Office, people living in the area of 4th of July Creek Road need to leave immediately.

DANVILLE, Wash. — Level 3 (Go Now!) Evacuations have been issued for a wildfire called the "Goosmus Fire" burning in Danville, Washington. 

According to the Ferry County Sheriff's Office, people living in the area of 4th of July Creek Road need to leave immediately.

Level 2 (Get Set) Evacuations have been issued for the town of Danville and the area north of Big Goosmus Road, along Highway 21 all the way to the Canadian border.

The sheriff's office said WSDOT is helping permit traffic along the previously closed section of Highway 21 North. Big Goosmus Road and 4th of July Creek Road are closed to the public, and can only be accessed by local residents.

The Goosmus Fire is currently 0% contained and is burning over 1,500 acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Ferry County Sheriff's Office confirmed the fire started around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.
