SPOKANE, Wash. — Evacuations for a wildfire burning near Carlton, Washington have been lowered to Level 1 "Get Set." That's according to Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM).

The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says the fire has burned 277 acres and is currently 35% contained. Officials with the emergency management team say it is moving south near Gold Creek Road. They also say winds are predicted to increase in the afternoon.

According to OCEM, people living near Gold Creek Road and South Fork Gold Creek Road need to be ready to leave at as conditions change.

Gold Creek Road is currently closed at Gold Creek Loop Road. Gold Creek Road, South Fork and Middle Fork are currently only open to local residents only. OCEM said the fire is holding its footprint, but is still active.

The fire sparked Saturday afternoon, and DNR says crews worked through the night trying to secure a containment line. There are four fire engines, two helicopters and one dozer at the fire line right now, according to DNR.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
