KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash. — Evacuation orders for areas near the Juniper fire in Klickitat County were lowered Monday evening.

The Level 3 evacuation orders for the Pine Creek Drainage area have been reduced to Level 1. This means everyone should be aware of the nearby fire.

The fire has burned 253 acres and is 80 percent contained, as of Monday evening.

Officials said 201 people are working to put out the fire. At one point, 39 structures were threatened. No buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported.

On Monday evening, crews completed lining the perimeter of the fire and continued mopping up.

Demobilization process started Monday night and in the morning.

Crews are now concerned about the fire weather watch that will begin Tuesday.

According to a Klickitat County Department of Emergency Management spokesman, smoke was observed at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Saturday from a wind turbine's generator unit south of the rural town of Bickleton.

The fire then engulfed the turbine and spread to brush, grass and juniper trees below, according to a KCDEM release.
