Evacuations canceled for fire in McConihe area north of Moses Lake

People who evacuated can return to their homes but remain aware of fire conditions.

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — The Grant County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 3 (Go Now!) Evacuation for the McConihe area north of Moses Lake Thursday afternoon. Those evacuations have now been canceled

Here is what you need to know as of 4:45 p.m.:

  • Evacuation Level 3 (Go Now!) for Neppel Road from Road E-North East to the 8000 block of Neppel canceled
  • People who evacuated can return to their homes but remain aware of fire conditions
  • The fire has currently burned 100 acres
  • The fire is now under control and in mop-up
  • 60 homes were threatened, none damaged
  • 1-2 outbuildings have been lost
  • 3 agencies are responding: Fire District 5, 13 and Moses Lake Fire Department
  • Winds are currently blowing south at 16-20 mph
  • The fire is spreading northeast
  • The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
