I-84 reopened Thursday morning after wildfires caused closure

Interstate 84 is open again Thursday morning from Pendleton to Ontario. ODOT said that closures may happen again, due to fire activity in the area.

BOISE, Idaho — Interstate 84 has reopened Thursday morning from Ontario to Pendleton, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

ODOT said travelers should be prepared for additional closures on I-84 in the coming days. 

The northbound and southbound lanes of OR 201 are also open again from Exit 356 to U.S. Highway 95/Weiser Spur.

The Durkee Fire has burned 244,858 acres and is 0% contained as of Wednesday morning, according to the Vale District Bureau of Land Management. The fire, which was sparked by lightning, is located five miles southwest of Durkee, Oregon.

The Oregon Department of Transportation on Monday night announced scheduled closures for I-84 between Pendleton and Ontario to manage the Durkee Fire. The closures are expected to begin at 7 p.m. and open again by 5 a.m. the following day for the next three to five nights.
