SPOKANE, Wash. — Following a last-minute cancellation due to a positive COVID-19 test, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will visit Spokane County on Thursday.
Gov. Inslee will make several stops around Spokane County during his visit. He plans to meet with wildfire recovery leaders, as well as Ukranian refugees and local housing officials.
Inslee will first meet with the Spokane Long-Term Recovery Group to talk about the latest recovery efforts after the Spokane County wildfires. His plan is to talk with local agencies about response challenges, and how the state can better provide support during future emergencies.
His next stop will be at Thrive International to meet with Ukrainian refugees. During this visit, Inslee said he wants to discuss the state’s efforts to support refugees in Spokane, as well as advocate for more funding for Ukraine.
Inslee then plans to attend the American Planning Association’s Awards and Annual Conference to discuss the housing crisis and ongoing regional plans to address it.
After the conference, Inslee will visit the Catalyst Building to support further development of sustainable buildings. The Catalyst Building itself is one of the biggest net zero-carbon buildings in North America, according to the governor.
In his last stop in Spokane County, Gov. Inslee will meet with YWCA Spokane staff to talk about the family justice center and firearm removal program.
