Two adults and a cat die in RV park near Colbert

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Thursday and two people were confirmed dead on Friday morning, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

COLBERT, Wash. — Two people and a cat were killed in an RV fire near Colbert on Thursday night. Investigators say the fire was accidentally started.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified 53-year-old Bobby Joe Davis and 64-year-old Gloria Davis as the two who died in the fire.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) says the fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire late Thursday night but were unable to conduct a full investigation due to safety concerns.

Assistant Fire Marshall for Spokane County District 4 David Lachapelle says the fire was most likely electrical in nature. They do not believe a space heater started the fire and their investigation is looking into a plug near the TV.

Lachapelle added that the RV did not have smoke detectors.

SCSO says the cause of the fire and the manner of the two deaths are under investigation by SCSO detectives and fire investigators as of Friday morning.

Assistant Fire Marshal Lachapelle told KREM 2 that Thursday's fatal fire was the second this year in Spokane County where people died because they didn't have smoke alarms.
