Three people dead after plane originating from Moscow/Pullman Regional Airport crashes in Montana

AUGUSTA, Montana — Sheriffs from Lewis and Clark County in Montana have confirmed three people died in a plane crash near Augusta, Montana on Thursday. Flight Aware shows the Cessna 182 took off from Pullman/Moscow Regional Airport at 10:22 on Thursday, August 8.

The plane was last contacted near Missoula just after 11:30 a.m.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton told KREM 2 that two people riding horses spotted smoke and got to a location between two mountains where they called 911.

Bystanders said the aircraft came down at an extreme angle in rough terrain.

Montana Department of Natural Resources and US Forest Service assisted in getting to the wreckage and the remains of the passengers.

The NTSB, FAA and search and rescue responded to the scene to begin an investigation.
