COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Two teens have been arrested in Coeur d'Alene after allegedly stealing handguns out of cars.

The Coeur d'Alene Police Department says it received 6 reports of auto burglaries in the area of North Courcelles Parkway and West Hanley Avenue between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14.

Police say property stolen during these incidents included several handguns.

CDA police and detectives began investigating and collected surveillance videos from the surrounding area, allowing detectives to identify two teenage boys as the suspects involved in these cases.

CDAPD says detectives interviewed and arrested one of the suspects on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The 16-year-old suspect reportedly admitted to his involvement and indicated he and other individuals were responsible for additional burglaries that have not been reported.

On Friday, Nov. 15 detectives located and interviewed the second suspect, a 17-year-old, who was then also arrested.

Both teens were booked into the Kootenai County Juvenile Detention Center.

CDAPD says some of the recovered stolen property, including a handgun, is from auto burglaries that have not been reported. The police department says victims of an auto burglary between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14 should contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at 208-769-2320.
