NESPELEM, Wash. — A teenage driver was killed and four children were taken to the hospital following a car crash south of Nespelem on Tuesday night around 9 p.m.
Washington State Patrol says the 17-year-old driver was driving on State Route 155 about 5 miles south of Nespelem and failed to navigate a turn, crashing the car into the rocky shoulder off the road.
The driver then overcorrected, spun and then rolled the car. The car ended up on its wheels on the opposite shoulder.
The crash killed the driver and the four passengers were taken to local hospitals.
The passengers included a 3-year-old, a 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds.
WSP says no one in the car was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
