SPOKANE, Wash. — Hospitals are among the many businesses and organizations affected by the global tech outage that took place due to a CrowdStrike update malfunction.
In Spokane, Providence hospitals report on Friday, July 19 that they have had teams working overnight to restore key functionality in their systems.
They write in a press release that the "Epic" electronic health record systems that allow nurses and physicians to access patient information and documentation are still being impacted by the outage.
MultiCare Health Systems have also been significantly impacted.
They report in a press release that all elective surgeries at both Deaconess and Valley Hospital that were scheduled for Friday, July 19 will be rescheduled for a later date.
Emergency and urgent procedures will continue, and emergency rooms will remain open at both locations.
MultiCare Rockwood Clinic will be rescheduling all appointments between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday, July 19 for a later date. Appointments after that time will follow the clinic's down-time procedures.
MultiCare’s Indigo Urgent Care will be remain open for walk-in patients.
MultiCare reports that all patients impacted will be contacted by MultiCare staff.
