SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police said a suspect was arrested Friday in connection to the body found in a home early Thursday.
Melissa Leeann Martin, 36, was arrested Friday afternoon for second-degree murder domestic violence.
Spokane police could not confirm the relationship between the suspect and the victim. The victim has not yet been identified.
Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation on Thursday after a body was found in a Hillyard home.
Spokane Police Sgt. Terry Preuninger said police received a call at about 2:20 a.m. where a third party described suspicious circumstances in northeast Spokane.
Officers later determined that the call stemmed from an incident at a home in the 1600 block of East Rockwell Avenue, Preuninger said.
Spokane Police Patrol officers responded to the scene and determined that they would need assistance from SWAT and Major Crimes.
A search warrant was obtained for the home and executed by SWAT. MCU has taken over the investigation.
