SPOKANE, Wash. — One man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 67-year-old man's fentanyl overdose in 2023.

On Thursday, June 27, US Marshals Pacific North West Violent Offenders Task Force arrested 61-year-old Randy S. Brown.

According to officials, Brown allegedly sold the victim counterfeit Fentanyl pills, which led to the victim's death.

Investigators say they were able to identify Brown as a suspect through messages he sent to the victim.

Brown was booked into the Spokane County Jail with a $100,00 bond. He is next due in court on July 9.

In 2023 Spokane Fire Department received up to 1,600 overdose calls, averaging four a day.

In the first 38 days of 2024 alone, SFD responded to 249 overdose calls -- an average of six every day.
