Three people shot in Spokane Valley, Sheriff's Office investigating

Deputies say three people were shot following an argument at an apartment complex in Spokane Valley just after midnight.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Spokane Valley that happened early Friday morning. Detectives say the investigation stretches across three different locations.

It started just after 12:30 a.m., when a caller reported hearing arguing followed by gunshots at an apartment complex on S Bowdish Road and E 40th Ave.

Investigators say it appears that a man and a teenager had come to the apartments to meet with two adults. "At some point, an argument, possibly concerning drugs, escalated into a shooting," Corporal Mark Gregory wrote in a news release.

The teenager was shot and has life-threatening wounds. Two other men were also shot. Deputies say their injuries are not life-threatening. All three were taken to the hospital.

The Sheriff's Office said the fourth person left the apartment. He has been identified and is not believed to be hurt.

Investigators were out at a related scene at E 16th Ave and S Pines Road earlier on Friday morning. At this spot, law enforcement had surrounded a white SUV that appeared to have driven off the road and crashed. A tow truck has since removed the SUV.

The Sheriff's Office said at this point, no arrests have been made but it remains an active investigation.

Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the public.
