Spokane Valley fire crews said a mobile home fire on North Harmony Road started by a candle

SVFD said no one was inside the house at the time of the fire.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) found an unattended candle that started the fire in a mobile home on North Harmony Road.

According to fire officials, no one was inside the mobile home when crews arrived, but three cats and one dog were found and treated for any injuries.

SVFD said a candle close to flammable materials caused the fire. The mobile home also did not have any smoke alarms.

"The end of the summer wildfire season signals the beginning of the “in the home” fire season. As the cold weather moves residents’ activities back indoors, SVFD sees an uptick in structure fires," SVFD said in a Facebook post

If your home does not have a smoke alarm, call SVFD at (509) 928-1700, to schedule a free smoke alarm installation.
