Spokane Valley driver loses vision after getting shot in face by a paintball gun

A Spokane Valley semi-truck driver is temporarily out of work after getting shot in the eye with a paintball gun at the intersection of 32nd Avenue & Bowdish Road.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A 44-year-old Spokane Valley semi-truck driver is now out of work after being shot in the face with a paintball gun.

Michael Cottone was driving at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Bowdish Road at 8:30 p.m. on August 8th when he was forced to pull over after something with great force hit his face.

“At the time he didn't know what hit him… it was dark at the time and he couldn’t see,” Devan Cottone, Michael’s wife, said.

The Cottone family says that Michael will be out of work for weeks, if not months, due to the extent of his injuries. According to the family’s doctor, Michael can’t bend over, rub his eye or even pick up his kids in order to prevent his situation from worsening.

“It’s definitely been hard on him… Michael takes a lot of pride in being the provider for the family and making sure we are alright. So, this has been a very difficult time for him,” Cottone said.

The situation is under investigation to find out who did this to Michael.

In the meantime, the Cottone family has set up a GoFundMe for medical expenses.
