Spokane named sixth worst city for potholes, Washington named worst state

According to USA Today, Washington drivers have good reason to be concerned because Washington is considered the worst state for potholes.

SPOKANE, Wash. — As Spokane inches closer and closer to the inevitable Inland Northwest winter, Spokane streets and drivers are being reminded of one of the biggest struggles that comes along with the season, potholes.

According to USA Today, Washington drivers have good reason to be concerned with their streets because Washington is considered the worst state in the U.S. for potholes. On top of that, Spokane is ranked sixth in the country for cities with the worst pothole problems.

"Drivers across the nation fall victim to these asphalt atrocities, but some states present a bigger pothole problem than others. Our research suggests that Washingtonians may feel the brunt of potholes the most, while drivers in Wyoming and Nevada are less likely to experience the aftermath of those loathsome roadway craters," the article said

According to the City of Spokane's website, the city has filled nearly 4,000 potholes in 2023 so far.

The article shared reducing speed, straitening wheels and staying alert can all be simple things to reduce pothole damage.
