SPOKANE-- Spokane's City Council will decide whether to raise utility rates next year on Monday night.
Water rates are already set to go up and now the city is considering adding waste water and solid waste to the mix.
With the water hike approved earlier this month, the average household could soon pay $9 to $10 more a month.
If Spokane's City Council approves the plan, the average residential household will see their waste water rate go up by $6.15.
For solid waste customers who use a 68 gallon trash can, the rate goes up by $1.42.
The entire rate increases total up to $9.20 per month.
The city says it needs the money for required waste water improvements by the end of this decade. Those improvements include sewer overflow and holding tanks.
