SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police responded to a reported stabbing that left one person hospitalized with serious injuries and caused a SWAT standoff near downtown Spokane.
The Spokane Police Department says the stabbing was reported around 9:45 a.m. and a suspect barricaded themself into a building near the location of the alleged stabbing, avoiding police for about 3 hours.
Police and SWAT teams responded to the scene and arrested the suspect around 12:45 p.m.
The Washington State Patrol also worked with SPD to close I-90 in both directions near the Maple Street exit while police were on the scene.
WSP says I-90 is now reopened, but backups will cause slow traffic in the area.
