SPOKANE-- City officials confirm a Spokane Police detective who is suing the City of Spokane is on paid administrative leave.
Officials say Detective Jay Mehring was placed on paid administrative leave last week. Spokane Police Chief AnneKirkpatrick did not cite a reason, and is currently on vacation and unavailable for comment.
Mehring was arrested in 2007 when he was accused of making death threats against his estranged wife and was placed on unpaid layoff status within the Spokane Police Department. However, Mehring was acquitted of all charges in 2008, and reinstated with the department.
Mehring is currently suing the City of Spokane over the incident.
