SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department (SPD) was able to find a missing endangered woman thanks to the department's Air Support Unit (ASU) .

According to SPD, officers responded to reports of a missing person on Saturday, October 5 near East Upriver Drive near John H. Shields Park. SPD said it was told that a woman who suffers from night blindness was last seen in a wooded area an hour before and that the woman was roughly 1.5 miles away from where they were.

Members of the SPD ASU responded due to the difficult terrain. The unit was able to find the woman with a drone, which showed that the woman was standing still near a tree.

Officers found the woman holding onto the tree. SPD said the woman was cold, but in good health. The woman was also evaluated by medical professionals.
