Spokane officer fired for damaging police departments' reputation

After 7 months of investigating, Bradley Moon was fired for violating both city and department policy by engaging in prohibited speech.

SPOKANE, Wash. — After serving the community for over 3 decades, a Spokane police officer has been fired for violating city and department policy 1060.4 by engaging in prohibited speech

This is after he was caught lying about a "Let's Go Brandon" sticker he put on his police car in August 2023.

A report issued last month from Spokane's Office of the Police Ombudsman says that on October 17th in 2023, a report was made to Internal Affairs by a non-police city employee about the sticker.

City of Spokane Director of Communication, Erin Hut, confirmed the officer's name is Bradley Moon and that he was fired in May 2024.

"Let's Go Brandon" has become a political statement against President Biden.

The report says the sticker was on the car for at least 56 days and that Moon said it was originally placed on the car in support of another officer's son who is now a collegiate athlete, however, body camera footage revealing conversations between Moon and other officers contradicts that original story.

The report says Moon denied being aware of the meaning behind the sticker, but when he was asked if he had heard the phrase in a political context, Moon said that it was a derogatory phrase towards the President Biden.

The report goes on to detail that 4 supervisors were aware of the sticker but didn't address it. The city says those 4 supervisors have since been reprimanded and asked to do additional trainings on the policy manual.

The investigation was handed over to the department's Administrative Review Panel in January. The panel found that the sticker was political and damaged the police department's reputation.

The city says that it takes these situations very seriously to ensure that everyone in the community feels safe.
