SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man is facing cheating charges after police say he used a massage device on a coin-pushing machine at Northern Quest.
The suspect, identified as Don Hedgecock, appeared in court on Wednesday.
Police say on four different occasions in August and September, Hedgecock was seen at the machine appearing to manipulate a massage device from under his shirt.
In some cases, no money had been inserted into the game, but police say they viewed videotape showing the coins falling down and rewarding Hedgecock with wins.
According to court documents, someone who was gambling was recording Hedgecock, saying, in part, "Watch right here, he doesn't play. He's just standing on the side. But watch the coins light up on the side," and "We heard the vibrator in his pocket today."
The video also catches the other gambler saying, "He knows how much he can get along with, he's pushing it so hard that it will buzz."
There is no word on how much money was lost. Hedgecock was released with no bail.
