SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane will have several closures during the holidays. Below is a list of closures for city offices and services.
Spokane City Hall will be closed on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Solid Waste Services will be a day late following the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Residents with regular Friday service those weeks will have service on Saturday. Residents who miss garbage day can report their missed solid waste collection online.
The Waste-to-Energy facility will be closed on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 but will be open all other days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas tree pickup will be between Dec. 30 to Jan. 10.
City residents with clean green food and yard waste service now have pick-up the first full weeks of January, February and December. Green carts will be collected from Jan. 6 to 10 on regularly scheduled garbage days. The city asks residents to have their carts to the curb by 6 a.m.
The Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet on Mondays, Dec. 23 and 30.
Council meetings will resume on Monday, Jan. 6, with a 3:30 p.m. briefing session and a 6 p.m. legislative session. Meetings are shown live on CityCable 5, the City’s government-access cable station, and are streamed on Facebook and the City's website. Citizens who want to provide testimony on an item on the Council’s agenda can sign up online.
On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment on Wednesdays, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1. The city reminds people that all parking rules, including time limits, still apply.
The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will be closed on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan 1.
Spokane 311 employees will not be available on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, for in-person, phone or online customer service inquiries. The public can access Spokane311.org 24 hours a day and messages will be responded to the next business day.
All Spokane Public Library branches will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s Day holiday.
The Numerica Skate Ribbon and Looff Carrousel in Riverfront Park will be closed on Christmas Day. Hours for Riverfront Park attractions can be found here.
The family-friendly New Year’s Eve Fireworks Presented by Coca-Cola at Riverfront Park will begin at 9 p.m. Fireworks will launch from the clock tower at Riverfront Park. The city will also host "DJ Night on the Ice" at the Numerica Skate Ribbon at 6 p.m.
