SPOKANE, Wash. — Fall leaves are getting cleaned up until mid-December, as part of the City of Spokane's leaf pick-up services.

City crews have started leaf pickup to help keep city streets clean and safe. Spokane's leaf pickup is meant to clear up leaves that naturally fall onto roads.

The City of Spokane is asking residents to move their cars when leaf pickup crews are expected. People should not rake or blow leaves into the street. Residents can follow the progress of the city's leaf clean-up crews here

Here are some ways to keep leaves off your lawn:

  • Leaves can be thrown away in green and food waste bins.
  • The City's Waste to Energy facility can throw away leaves for $60.80 a ton.
  • Start a composting bin! Check out the City's website here to get started.

Cleaning up leaves keeps the road safe for drivers, especially in the upcoming winter season. Removal also helps prevent clogged storm drains.
