SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington State University is looking for a developer to update the Jensen-Byrd building and nearby property on the Health Sciences Spokane campus.

University leaders said they are looking for proposals that acknowledge the historical nature of the building, are compatible to their mission and will add to the revitalization of the location. The deadline for submitting a statement of qualifications is November 16.

The property is located east of Pine Street between Main Avenue and East Spokane Falls Boulevard and consists of three parcels totaling approximately 4.1 acres.  The land is designated in the campus master plan for potential mixed use development.

In 2012, the Spokane City Council urged the University not to tear down the building. The council wanted the university to preserve and renovate the building instead.
