SPOKANE, Wash. – The man accused of two armed robberies at Sally Beauty Supply back in November made his first court appearance Friday.
Vance Bartley was arrested Thursday and charged with Robbery, Kidnapping and Harassment. His bail was set at $100,000.
Bartley has nine prior felony convictions and was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1998. His sentence was changed though and he was released in 2008. He was outspoken about offenders needing a second chance after his release.
The first Sally’s Beauty robbery occurred on November 6, 2015, around 8:00 a.m. at the store located on East Broadway. During the robbery, deputies said Bartley made numerous threats to shoot the employee if she failed to comply and kept his arm near his waist as if he had a gun.
He tied up the employee with a phone cord, stole the employee’s cell phone and told her if she called police he would return and kill her, deputies said.
Court documents said Bartley told employees, “I have a gun and I’m not afraid to blow a hole in your head.”
The second Sally’s Beauty robbery occurred on November 12, 2015 around 7:45 p.m. at the store located on West Wellesley in Spokane. This time, deputies said, an employee reported seeing a gun in Bartley’s waistband. Deputies said Bartley told the employees he would kill them if they did not cooperate and tied them up with a phone cord and took their cell phones.
