SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Office has one person in custody after a SWAT team served a warrant at an apartment complex on Thursday.
According to deputies, around 7:00 a.m. deputies and the SWAT team served a warrant at the Loma Vista Apartments on South Havana. The warrant stems from a three-month investigation into two Sally’s Beauty robberies.
Major Crimes Detectives named Vance G. Bartley, 50, as the suspect in those robberies. Deputies said he was taken into custody Thursday without incident.
Bartley was charged with two counts of First Degree Robbery and three counts of First Degree Kidnapping.
The first Sally’s Beauty robbery occurred on November 6, 2015, around 8:00 a.m. at the store located on East Broadway. During the robbery, deputies said Bartley made numerous threats to shoot the employee if she failed to comply and kept his arm near his waist as if he had a gun.
He tied up the employee with a phone cord, stole the employee’s cell phone and told her if she called police he would return and kill her, deputies said.
The second Sally’s Beauty robbery occurred on November 12, 2015 around 7:45 p.m. at the store located on West Wellesley in Spokane. This time, deputies said, an employee reported seeing a gun in Bartley’s waistband. Deputies said Bartley is a nine-time convicted felon and several of the convictions are for robbery. Additional charges are expected.
