'Strawberry Moon' expected to appear Wednesday night

A 'strawberry moon' is expected to light up the sky across the Pacific Northwest Wednesday night.

SPOKANE, Wash. – A ‘strawberry moon’ is expected to light up the sky across the Pacific Northwest Wednesday night.

The ‘strawberry moon’ won’t appear red with black spots life usual, but the first full moon of the summer will instead take on a reddish tint and appear exceptionally large.

The moon is set to greet sky watchers as early as 8:24 p.m., according to astronomer Michael Allen of Washington State University’s department of physics and astronomy. Allen told WSU News that the moon should be at its fullest by 9:53 p.m.
