SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) has a new administrative officer following more than a year with the position being vacant.
Alicia Thompson was appointed during a special board of health meeting on Nov. 6. She's set to start at SRHD on Dec. 11, 2023.
Thompson, who has worked in healthcare for more than 25 years, graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. After her time in the Air National Guard, she attended both Whitworth University and Eastern Washington University (EWU).
She has previously served as the deputy director of the Cowlitz County Health & Human Services Department and the health director and CEO of the Cascade City-County Health Department in Montana. She currently serves as the chief operations officer for Chiricahua Health Services, Inc. in Arizona.
“I am so honored and elated to lead Spokane Regional Health District," Thompson said in a statement. "By accepting this position, I have come full circle. Spokane County is where my love of public health began, and returning to Spokane to lead SRHD has been goal of mine for a long time.”
The administrative officer position has been open since September 2022, when former administrator Amelia Clarke announced her resignation and plans to accept a new position out of state.
