DEER PARK, Wash. -- No police officers or citizens were injured in a reported officer involved shooting in Deer Park Friday afternoon, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the suspect was shot and killed by police in the incident.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a reportedly suicidal male in Deer Park along the 3700 block of North Sherman Road. When they arrived on scene, they said that they found a man had crashed a car along the side of the road.

Police said deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, but the man pulled out a gun. Officers instructed the man to put down the gun, but the man pointed it at police, prompting officers to shoot him.

The deputies requested immediate medical response and started lifesaving medical attention but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not identify the man. The deputy who shot the man was put on administrative leave as per policy.
