DEER PARK, Wash.-- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced Tuesday that a student pilot was flying the plane that crashed in Deer Park last month.
According to NTSB, it was the first flight for the student. The group took off from Felts Field Airport in Spokane around 9:55 a.m. on July 13 and by 10:21 a.m., the plane was missing from their radar.
Witnesses reported that the airplane was diving towards the terrain and they saw the wings departing the airplane at the same time.
According to NTSB, the wreckage was distributed over a 400-foot distance with the right and left wing located away from the main wreckage.
In a release by Moody Bible Institute, it could take up to a year or more to determine the probable cause of the crash.
The victims of the crash were identified as Joochan (Austen) Lee, Diego Senn, and Andrew Trouten.
