SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission voted to classify Mt. Spokane's Potential Alpine Ski Expansion Area Thursday morning.
The expansion will include one chairlift and seven new trails, safeguarding natural areas, and the long-term future of recreation at Mt. Spokane.
"After nearly a decade of working with the Spokane community and regulatory agencies to create a plan that balances recreation and stewardship priorities, we are thrilled to be able to move forward to expand recreation that benefits the region and its residents in many ways," said Brad McQuarrie, Mt. Spokane General Manager.
The decade-long project has included significant research and studies and will address the needs and priorities of the community looking to balance recreational and environmental priorities.
"We want to thank all of the citizens, agencies, and ski area guests who have supported Mt. Spokane's efforts through this decade-long project," said McQuarrie.
Mt. Spokane is committed to carrying out the next steps of the expansion project while still conserving and protecting a regional asset.
