SPOKANE, Wash.-- Rick Clark, a formerly homeless Spokane man turned non-profit CEO, explained that “any bit of kindness was my bright spot,” when living as a homeless man, as he prepared thousands of backpacks full of supplies for homeless people living in Spokane.
The moment was captured in a trailer for an upcoming episode of "Returning the Favor," a reality web television series on Facebook Watch that features host Mike Rowe as he travels the country in search of people making a difference in their communities.
The trailer for Clark’s episode, titled "The Bright Spots," was released on Facebook Watch around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
The episode aired at 6 p.m. on Monday.
If you haven't yet seen the episode, it is a must-watch.
SPOILER ALERT: The crew at 'Returning the Favor' helped Clark's non-profit by providing backpacks and supplies to distribute to the homeless around Spokane. To top it all off, they also paid off the remainder of Clark's loans for his four-year degree from Gonzaga.
Clark has been recognized by the Spokane community in the past for his charity “Giving Backpacks,” which is in its fourth year of operation. The charity works to distribute backpacks filled with food, clothes and toiletries to the homeless.
Since the first year of operation in 2015, Clark has filled and distributed thousands of backpacks. Helping the homeless is very personal to Clark, who was living in his car just four years ago.
He has since graduated from Gonzaga University with a communications degree.
