The first baby born in Spokane in 2019 came into the world at 1:25 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Adoniram Cunning was born to Daniel Cunning and Kayla Krucher at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born 24 hours after Krucher went into labor.
They said the hospital called around to the other hospitals in Spokane to find out if he was the first baby born in the area. Cunning said they told them about five minutes later that it was true.
Adoniram’s parents hope this will make his birthday special for years to come.
"We definitely want him to, when he grows up, to be able to look back on this and see you were the first one born in Spokane and there's video of you just laying right here," Cunning said.
Adoniram is the couple's first baby.
